Dallas Mavericks forward Shawn Marion has missed the last five games with a sprained MCL. However, he will travel with the team and participate in Friday's shootaround before deciding whether to play Friday night against the Indiana Pacers.
The Mavs play a back-to-back on the road at Indiana and then the Cleveland Cavaliers. If Marion is not 100 percent, Dallas may try to hold him back and save him for the butt end of the back-to-back against Cleveland.
"If it feels like I can fight through some stuff, I'm going to give it a shot," Marion said.
Dallas could use its best defender and leading rebounder from last year. Marion is averaging nine rebounds in four game this season.
Having 'The Matrix' back in the lineup will benefit the team defensively, as small forwards have picked apart the Dallas defense without him. Marion has the ability to guard any opposing position on the court, whether it is point guard, small forward, or power forward.
Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said the team could have won its games against the Charlotte Bobcats and Minnesota Timberwolves had Marion been on the floor.
