Dallas Mavericks fans have never liked Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade. After all, he crushed Dallas' hopes of its first championship back in 2006, and he has constantly poked fun at Mavs' former MVP Dirk Nowitzki over the years.
That does make the 2011 championship for Dallas that much more sweeter since they were able to shut Wade up.
However, Wade made some interesting comments after his Heat throttled the Mavs on Thursday night 110-95. He was actually complementary of this current Mavs squad, a team without Dirk due to injury.
"I actually think they've been doing pretty damn good without having their main guy here, the guy who really understands what it takes to win here in Dallas," Wade said. "They've been staying afloat. They've got a lot of new pieces as well."
Speaking of the now 12-14 Mavs, these are pretty amazing comments coming from a guy who has done the Mavs wrong in more ways than one over the years, both on and off the court.
As well as complementing the current team, Wade seemed to understand what the Mavs are trying to do as an organization.
"You understand that certain teams in the league have to rebuild at a certain time. They unfortunately weren't able to keep their championship team together and they're just in a rebuilding stage, but they have good pieces."
Despite Wade's opinions, owner Mark Cuban has stated that the Mavs are not rebuilding.
